Introduction: Testosterone is one of the key sex hormones that plays a role in regulating several physiological functions, including muscle growth, mood, libido, and bone health. This study investigated serum testosterone levels in patients at Europe Asia Hospital in Kabul based on age and gender. The main objective was to identify the distribution of individuals with normal or abnormal testosterone levels and compare them between men and women.
Materials and Methods: For this purpose, information on age, gender, and testosterone levels of individuals was collected and analyzed. Based on laboratory criteria, normal testosterone levels in men were considered to be between 1.91 and 8.41 ng/mL and in women less than 0.80 ng/mL.
Results: The results showed that among women under 30 years of age, about 15% had abnormally elevated testosterone levels, which may be related to endocrine disorders such as polycystic ovary syndrome. In men, despite the normal frequency, one case of testosterone deficiency was observed.
Discussion: The results emphasize the importance of examining testosterone as an important indicator in assessing general health and fertility. This study can help to better understand the hormonal status in different populations and provide key points for hormonal health management.
